he National Centre for Energy Efficiency and Conservation, Lagos was established in the year 2008 with the appointment of the pioneer director, Prof. Oluwole Adegbenro assisted by Mr. Lateef Odekunle as the Finance Officer and Mrs. O. M. Ogunjobi doing secretarial duties.
The Centre was officially commissioned on March 16, 2010 by the DG/CEO, Energy Commission of Nigeria, Prof. A. Sambo, FAS, OON, NPOM, with staff strength of thirteen permanent and eight supporting staff from the University of Lagos for its Auditing, Librarial, Secretarial and Office duties.
The National Centre for Energy Efficiency and Conservation (NCEEC) is one of six research centers within the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN). The Centre is located within the Faculty of Engineering, University of Lagos.
The Centre has been charged with the responsibility of organizing and conducting research and development in energy efficiency and conservation. In this regard, the core activities include: Research, Consultancy, Developing EE & C Policy framework, Building Alliance and partnerships with other organizations, conducting Energy Audits, Raising Awareness on EE & C, Training via seminars, workshops and conferences, Appliance testing, implementing Renewable energy and energy efficiency projects.
