One of the major thrusts of the Centre is the development of energy efficiency codes, standards and specifications for domestic, commercial and industrial facilities and setting up laboratories for testing and calibration of equipment and appliances to ensure compliance with the requisite standards. Since its inception, NCEEC together with the Standards Organisation of Nigeria and other relevant stakeholders have been actively engaged with the development of standards for renewable energy and energy efficient appliances in Nigeria. Through the work of its technical committees, SON, together with The UNDP, GIZ, NCEEC, and Manufacturers has developed in a collaborative and consensus driven approach with active participation from all stakeholders, standards for the following appliances;
- Clean Cook Stoves
The Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPs) for the appliances have also been adopted and the labels for air conditioners and refrigerators have now been launched and being operationalized in Nigeria.
